” We do not count a man’s years until he has nothing else to count.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Have you set your sail to go where you wanted to go? If haven’t, are you making any preparation for your journey? If no, what is stopping you? Do you think you are too old? Or may be too young to start something worthwhile?

Have you heard this story before about an old woman going to college? No?. It goes like this, an old woman was enrolling to get her undergrad’s degree in the college that her youngest son was studying. Feeling a little embarrass, her son tried every means to talk her mother out of the ideas. After so many fail attempts, he finally revealed the trust and said, ” Mother, why do you enroll for an undergrad’s degree, you will be 58 after you graduated!” His mother, calmly replied. “My son, I will be 58 with or without the degree!”

What are the reasons or excuses you gave yourself for not attained your goal, and how old will you be with or without achieving your dream or goals three years, five years or ten years from now? Do you think you are too old, too young to achieve them? As Emerson said,” We do not count a man’s years until he has nothing to count.” So don’t start counting your years as it only implied that you have nothing else to count.

Recently, in out local newspaper, a six years old kid was awarded a medal for creating a website for kids and in Singapore, a high lady in her earlier forties quit her high profile CEO post in a multi-national corporation to become a teacher of local primary school when she was accepted by the government to be a teacher after so many fail attempts. And last September, a 64 years old retiree had finally obtained his medical degree and fulfilling his dream of becoming a doctor.

What is stopping your from achieving your dream? Many people see only the success of other and wish that they can also do the same, but they were unwilling to plant the seed of greatness, nurture it and give it time to grow. Day passes and time flies, before long, they tell themself they are too old to start something new. In today competitive environment, if you are not moving forward, you will be swept behind by the waves of change! Do something new to better yourself each and every day.

Albert Einstein said,”Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result!”

Give it a thought!
